"Cinco de Mayo Rock Out" for LupusDate: Saturday, May 5th, 2007 Location: Hogue BarMichael's, 3950 Campus Drive, Newport Beach, CA Hogue Barmichael's, in Newport Beach, was the rocking place to be on May 5th to celebrate Cinco de Mayo. The benefit concert offered a great lineup of bands that played throughout the night in support of Lupus International. Katie Chappell, a member of Claira's Daze, opened the night with an acoustic guitar and vocal performance that wowed the crowd. Now We are Six entertained everyone with their genuine artistic enthusiasm. Fiore took the stage rocking with their ambient freestyle followed by Vokee from LA kept a strong momentum rolling with their electrical alternative rock style that got the audience dancing. Jupiter, from Temecula kept it all going with their rock style that turned the audience on. Inverse rocked the house with their classical rock and blues while Drop Dead Beats, from Long Beach, ended the night with their four piece Psycho/Rockabilly mixture of Gothic, Country, and Garage. Congratulations to Vokee who took home the grand prize of the night: three hours of recording studio time donated by Ardent Audio Productions. Our heartfelt gratitude to each of the bands performed in support of lupus-you all rocked! We extend our deep appreciation to Rachel Dunkleman and Alana Lipp, the event co-organizers. Rachel, whose mother was diagnosed with lupus twenty-five years ago, wanted to raise money and awareness for lupus. While Alana devotes her time to helping people throughout her community so the world becomes a better place. |
